Soccer and Swine

My week went well, not! The week of April 20th, my school, Shadow Ridge Middle School, had tryouts for the school soccer team. I played soccer for six years and so I thought maybe I can make it. I signed up fully confident this tryout I would actually make the team. Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Cross Country. I tried them all and didn't make the teams. This time I'll make it.   I kept telling myself this over and over. Well tryouts started on Wednesday the 22nd. I ran my mile in a little over nine minutes! My last mile I ran was a fifteen minutes. I was so proud I'd made it under ten minutes this time! So proud, well, but the mile wasn't the only thing that made you make the team obviously. So next cone dribbles. Ok, now this may sound easy, but I haven't played actual coached soccer in a little under a year because I had to quit for school sports last spring. I walk up to the cones with a ball, and luckily my name is right in the middle of the alphabet, so I got to hang back and watch some of the really great soccer players do it first. I got the hang of it, and when it was my turn I was glad to say I'd done pretty well. I had only missed a couple of cones in the process. Ok, well the last of that day's tryout was to scrimmage and the coaches said to just pick the most comfortable spot for us and I dashed to the goal to play my best personal spot goalie. I only let in 4 goals out of about 12 for just my turn. Good for the day.
Ok next day, next tryout. Today we would have to do cone dribbling again, but in wider spaces and time it. I did kind of well until we got to using just our left foot. Whoops! Guess I didn't practice that. Well I still had only missed a couple cones, but it was kind of disastrous. :) Then scrimmaging again. I went to the goal, but the coach moved me to play forward. I protested because I was never a great forward, but whatever, I guess I had no say. Well, it actually turned out great. I made the first goal and got the ball away from the best player which made coach impressed she said, "And you didn't wanna play forward!" I replied with whatever and walked into the locker room to change.
Last day of the week, last day for tryouts. All we were doing was corner kicks and scrimmaging. My corner kicks both made it to the right score-able person. 2 points if you make it to the right person, 1 point if you got it close, and zero if you completely missed. I got 4 points both to the right person! I was so glad! Ok last thing to do scrimmage I played goalie and only had to stop one goal because I was on the team with the best players! I was so excited!

Last thing to do: make the team.

I walk into the locker room and change and everybody's waiting for the list and for the coaches to make up their minds. Ughhhh.....
The coaches door opens, the list is up... I go and look and there's my name. RIght there on the list. Oh my gosh! I did it! Wow! Cool! I grab a schedule and run out the door to my mom's car! I tell her she says congrats! I say thanks! REally super cool.
Well guess what decides it wants to come to America? N1H1 Type A influenza. Of course. UIL says that no other school can come to our campus and we can't go to theirs'. Then they decide we can't stay before school or after that means no Band and no soccer. UGH! So the one team I make is BOOM not happening. Cool huh? Well at least I did make it. By the way I really want my mom to get a job soon so can everyone just be praying with me to help her. I want her to have her own classroom and a job, because she's worked so hard for so long and so she deserves it. Plus she has to take are of me, my brother , and our animals, too. I just want her to be happy in a great job. Thanks. Hope everyone has a blessed week off. :)
Love,
Mere
